Council Home City Wards Map Council Calendar Council Packet & Minutes Sedalia City Council The Sedalia City Council is vested with the legislative authority of city government and sets the strategic vision and guidance for city operations. The Council sets city policy by passing ordinances and resolutions. The Council approves the city budget, appoints and supervises the City Administrator, confirms Mayoral nominations to the various city Boards & Commissions, and generally oversees city functions. Additionally, the Council approves city development and takes action on recommendations from the Citizen's Traffic Advisory Commission and the Planning & Zoning Board. The Council is comprised of eight councilmembers - two from each of the four city wards - who are elected to serve two-year terms. The Mayor is elected to a four-year term by the city at-large and serves as the head of the Council. City Council meets on the first and third Monday of each month, unless otherwise specified. The Council meets at 7:00 p.m. in the Municipal Buildings' Council Chambers at 200 South Osage Avenue. A pre-Council committee meeting is held in the Mayor's Conference Room prior to the regular meeting. City Council Directory
